What we did
- Full wash, iron decon and clay to clear bonded contamination before the coating
- P&S Inspiration STOUT ceramic coating across every painted panel
- Cure before the car went back on the road
Process detail
- Mazda's red is a layered paint with a translucent colour coat over a reflective base; it is the clear coat on top that the coating protects
- Red pigment fades first under UV; a ceramic coating is the layer that takes the sun instead of the pigment
- STOUT is a high-solids coating with a strongly hydrophobic surface: water sheets off, dirt lets go on a rinse
- Aftercare: a Maintenance Wash every few weeks keeps the coating healthy
