Innovo Auto Detailing
Detailing guide

Car odor, pet hair and stain removal, and what each one costs.

At Innovo, pet hair and surface stains are included in every Interior Detail ($140 to $395) and Complete Detail ($225 to $540). On a Basic Detail they are add-ons: pet hair $40, stain removal $85. Most odors go with the cleaning; for one that is still there afterwards, the ozone odor treatment is a $65 add-on, done at the Oakland shop only.

“Most smells in a car come from something in the cabin, so the first step is always the clean itself. Ozone is for the odor that is still there once the cabin is clean, and it runs at the shop because that is where the machine is.”

What is included, package by package

The short version: if the inside of the car is the problem, the Interior or Complete Detail is the service, and pet hair and surface stains are already in its price. The Basic Detail is a wash and a tidy-up, so on a Basic those jobs are charged separately.

Pet hair

On an Interior or Complete Detail, getting the hair out of the carpet, mats, seats and cargo area is part of the job, not a line on the invoice. On a Basic Detail it is a $40 add-on, because the Basic is a vacuum and wipe-down rather than a full interior clean.

The one thing worth telling us when you book is how much hair there is. A car with one short-haired dog is a normal Interior Detail. A cabin that carries several shedding dogs every day is still handled, but it can take real extra time, and the technician will tell you on arrival if it needs more than the booked block.

Stains

Surface stains on seats, carpet and door cards are included in an Interior or Complete Detail. Deep or old stains are a different job: how far one comes out depends on what it is, what it soaked into and how long it has been there, so the technician looks at it before starting and tells you what is realistic. We do not promise that a stain will disappear.

Carpet and upholstery shampoo with steam extraction works the same way. It is done when the car needs it, assessed on arrival, and not promised in advance; plenty of cabins are better served by a deep vacuum and surface work. On a Basic Detail, stain removal is an $85 add-on and shampoo is not available. If the carpets are the reason you are booking, book the Interior Detail.

Odor, and when ozone is worth it

Most smells in a car have a source you can find: food under a seat, something spilled into the carpet, a pet bed, damp mats. The normal Interior or Complete Detail removes that source, and with it most of the smell. That is why odor removal is not a separate service on our menu.

The ozone odor treatment is for the odor that is still there once the cabin is clean. It is a $65 add-on to an Interior or Complete Detail, booked as a 30-minute add-on, and it is done at the Oakland shop only, because the machine is not carried on the vans. Tell us when you book if the car has been smoked in or has carried a smell for a long time; it changes how long the interior takes, and the technician will be straight with you about what to expect. We do not promise that any particular odor will be gone.

Cabin air filter

The cabin air filter is what the air from your vents passes through. We recommend replacing it every 15,000 miles, and it is a $65 add-on when you book a detail, so it can be done while the car is already with us.

How long the interior takes

These are the labour hours for the Interior and Complete Details. We usually send two technicians, so you are without the car for about half the time. Heavy pet hair or deep stains can add to it, which the technician tells you before starting.

Worked examples

Toyota RAV4 (large) with a dog that rides in the back every day: Interior Detail, $238. Pet hair is included. Four hours of labour, about two with two technicians.

Toyota Camry (medium), coffee on the seat, outside does not matter: an Interior Detail at $195 is cheaper than a Basic plus stain removal ($160 + $85 = $245), and the surface stain is already in it. If you want the outside washed too, a Complete Detail is $325.

Toyota Highlander (XL) that still smells after a clean: Interior Detail $310 plus the ozone treatment, +$65, as a drop-off at the shop. $375.

Mini Cooper (compact) that has gone 15,000 miles since its last filter: Interior Detail $140 plus the cabin air filter, +$65. $205.

Mobile or at the shop

Pet hair, stain work and the rest of the interior detail are the same price whether we come to you or you drop the car at 3425 Ettie St, Oakland; the vans carry their own water and power. The ozone treatment is the exception, so if you want it, book the detail as a drop-off. The mobile vs shop guide covers the rest of that choice.

Booking it

Pick the Interior or Complete Detail and your vehicle on the booking page; it shows your size tier, the exact price and the time block before you confirm. The full step list for each package is in what is included in a detail, every price side by side is in the detailing cost guide, and the service itself is on the detailing page.

FAQ

How much does car odor removal cost?

Most smells are handled by the Interior or Complete Detail itself, at no extra charge, because the cleaning removes what is causing them. If an odor is still there after the cabin is clean, the ozone odor treatment is a $65 add-on to an Interior or Complete Detail. It is done at our Oakland shop only.

How do you remove odor from a car?

In two steps. First the cabin is cleaned: a thorough vacuum including under the seats and the seat tracks, every surface wiped, leather conditioned, and surface stains worked out. That handles most smells. For an odor that survives the clean, we run the ozone treatment at the shop. We do not promise that a particular smell will be gone; the technician tells you on arrival what is realistic for your car.

Is pet hair removal extra?

Not on an Interior or Complete Detail; it is part of the work. On a Basic Detail it is a $40 add-on. Heavy pet hair, such as several shedding dogs, is still handled but can take real extra time, so the technician confirms on arrival if it needs more than the booked block.

Do you remove stains from car seats and carpet?

Surface stains are included in an Interior or Complete Detail. Deep or old stains are assessed on arrival, because how far a stain comes out depends on what it is and how long it has been there. On a Basic Detail, stain removal is an $85 add-on.

Do you shampoo the seats and carpets?

On an Interior or Complete Detail, carpet and upholstery shampoo with steam extraction is done when the technician judges the car needs it. That is assessed on arrival rather than promised in advance. It is not available on a Basic Detail; if the carpets are the problem, book the Interior Detail.

Can you do the ozone treatment at my house?

No. The ozone machine lives at the shop at 3425 Ettie St, Oakland, and is not carried on the vans. Pet hair, stain work and the rest of the interior detail are the same price mobile or at the shop, so if you want ozone included, book the detail as a drop-off.

Should I replace the cabin air filter?

We recommend replacing it every 15,000 miles. It is a $65 add-on when you book a detail, so it is an easy thing to do while the car is already with us.

Is it cheaper to add pet hair or stain removal to a Basic, or book an Interior Detail?

Often the Interior Detail. On a Camry, a Basic is $160 and stain removal adds $85, so $245; an Interior Detail is $195 with surface stains and pet hair already in it. The difference is the outside: the Basic includes an exterior hand wash and the Interior does not. If you want both halves, the Complete Detail covers them.

Pet hair and stains are in the price. Interior and Complete.
